4.8K Investment in Deadlock Explained

If you are a new player joining Deadlock you might have noticed a barrage of unfamiliar terms till now that you probably have no idea about. You keep on hearing the same terms again and again that don’t seem to make any sense to you, and I am pretty sure that the term “4.8k investment” is one of them.

What does 4.8k mean?

To answer your question straight. When people say 4.8k in Deadlock, they mean 4800 Souls. By 4.8k Investment they mean investing 4800 souls on different items in the game.

Now, what is so special about 4.8k Investment?

To understand this, you need to launch Deadlock, go to the practice range, and look at the bottom left corner of your screen. You will see three bars. Yellow, Green, and Purple. The Yellow bar represents your Weapon, Green represents your HP, and Purple represents Spirit. How you fill up each bar depends on the type of items you spend your souls on. You might have noticed that the in-game item shop has 3 tabs. Whenever you buy an item from the yellow tab or any item that has a yellow-colored card, you fill up your Yellow bar. Same thing for the other bars. Green items to fill the Green bar and Purple items for the Purple bar. Now, if you take your mouse pointer on these bars and hover over them you will see a stats box pop up. These boxes show all your current stats of the hero you are using in the game. Beside each box, you will see another box that says either Weapon Investment, or Vitality Investment, or Spirit Investment. Depends on which box you are hovering over. And inside those boxes you will see ‘4.8k’ and a star beside it. It means that you will get your biggest Power Spike once you have spent 4800 souls on either of the different colored items. Beside that 4.8k you will also see how big of a spike you are getting compared with the numbers before below it.

Let me explain with an example.

Inside the Weapon Investment box, you will notice ‘+9%’ and ‘800’ following that at the bottom of the list. It means you get 9% extra weapon damage when you spend 800 souls on any Yellow item. And this percentage increases pretty slowly till 3.2k or 3200 souls, where you get an extra 18% Weapon Damage. But as soon as you have spent 4800 souls that number straight up jumps from +18% to +46%. That is more than double the damage percentage increase.

This logic applies for all three of those bars. Your character actually starts feeling powerful once you have spent 4.8k souls threshold on either of those bars. If you are using a weapon damage focused Hero like Wraith, try to reach 4.8k on the Yellow bar as fast as possible, 4.8k on the Purple bar for a spirit damage focused Hero like Mina, and 4800 on the Green bar for tanks like Victor. That is why you will keep on seeing builds asking you to “rush to 4.8k investment”. Well, now you know why.
